Acne is a common skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells causing pimples (blackheads, whiteheads, small or large red bumps, and cysts).
Your pharmacist may be able to provide topical medication to treat your acne.

Allergic rhinitis (hay fever) is an allergic reaction caused by triggers such as pollen, mould, dust mites or pet dander.
Symptoms may include:
Sneezing
Runny nose
Congestion
Itchy eyes
Coughing
Scratchy throat

Thick, hardened layers of skin caused by friction and pressure, usually on the feet or hands.

Small, painful ulcers that appear on inside of mouth including gums, tongue, cheeks; may appear as a single ulcer or multiple ulcers.
Symptoms may include:
Painful ulcers (white/yellow in centre with red halo)
Burning/tingling
Difficulty eating, drinking, speaking
Your pharmacist may be able to prescribe topical medications to reduce the pain/inflammation and promote healing.

Painful blisters caused by a virus. Appears as small blisters on edge of mouth and/or near nose.
These sores are easily spread to others.
Symptoms may include:
Tingling, itching and burning sensation on the lips
Painful fluid-filled blisters
Broken blisters with clear/yellowish fluid
Yellow crust formed on the sores that may crack/bleed
Pink sores when crust falls off

A common scalp condition marked by flaky skin, itching, and redness (also known as seborrheic dermatitis).

A common occurrence in babies/children who wear diapers. Occurs when skin in the diaper area is irritated due to long exposure to moisture, friction, and contact with urine/feces.
Symptoms may include:
Redness, swelling, shiny patches or scaling in diaper area

A condition where the eyes do not produce enough quality tears, leading to irritation, stinging, and redness.

Tiny, wingless parasitic insects that infest the scalp and hair, causing intense itching and visible eggs (nits).

Skin irritation that occurs after an insect bite/sting that often appears on exposed areas of skin (face, arms, and legs)
Symptoms may include:
Very itchy red, raised bumps on the skin
Area of skin that is swollen, red, warm, painful to touch
Bumps may change shape/travel to other areas of body

A fungal skin infection in the groin and inner thigh area that causes a red, itchy, ring-shaped rash.

A mild to severe cramping pain in lower abdomen (may spread to the back and legs); usually occurs before/during menstrual period. It takes 1 to 3 days for symptoms to go away.
Symptoms may include:
Dull to intense throbbing pain
Nausea/vomiting/diarrhea
Headache
Tiredness
Weakness

Tension-type headaches causing dull, aching head pain, tightness around the forehead, or muscle tenderness.

Nausea and vomiting of pregnancy are commonly known as "morning sickness"; however, it can occur at any time of the day. It usually occurs starting in the middle of the 1st trimester of pregnancy. Symptoms may vary in duration and frequency.
Symptoms may include:
Nausea/vomiting
Inability to keep drink or food down

An injury of a muscle, ligament or tendon as a result of injury (pulling, twisting or stretching).
Symptoms may include:
Pain
Swelling
Bruising
Limited range of motion of the joint
Muscle weakness

A blocked or stuffy nose caused by fluid buildup and inflamed tissues due to common colds or sinus issues.

A yeast/fungal infection of the mouth/throat.
Symptoms may include:
White patches on tongue, back of throat, inside the cheeks
“Cottony” feeling in mouth
Slight bleeding when white patches are scraped off
Loss of taste
Dry, cracked corners of mouth

An irritation or infection of the eye which can be caused by allergens, bacteria, viruses, and other irritants.
Symptoms may include:
Sandy/gritty feeling in eye
Pain when looking at bright lights
Watery eye
Itchy/burning eyes
Yellow/green discharge on eyelashes causing crusts on eyelids

Small, parasitic worms that infect large intestines and lay eggs around the anus. Accidentally swallowing or breathing in pinworm eggs can cause a pinworm infection.
Symptoms may include:
Intense itching of anus
Itching worsens at night
Sifficulty sleeping
Stomach pain/nausea
Your pharmacist may be able to prescribe medications to kill the infection and reduce symptoms.

A contagious fungal skin infection that creates a red, itchy, circular rash with clearer skin in the middle.

A contagious bacterial skin infection that happens if bacteria get into cuts/scrapes. Often appears around the nose and mouth, but can affect other parts of the body like the arms or legs. More common in younger children.
Symptoms may include:
Red bumps that turn into fluid-filled blisters
Leaking fluid that forms scabs with yellow/brown crusts

Dermatitis is a general term for inflammation of the skin. It can be caused by a substance, allergen, or genetic/environmental factors. Appears a few hours or days after being exposed to irritant/allergen.
Symptoms may include:
Dry, red, itchy skin
Flaking, peeling, cracking, scaling skin
Red and swollen patches

A bite caused by a tick that can infect humans and animals with diseases, most commonly Lyme disease.
Lyme disease is an infection that can be spread by black-legged ticks to humans.
Your pharmacist may be able to give antibiotic to help prevent Lyme disease if:
You were bitten less than 72 hours ago
Tick attached for more than 24 hours
No symptoms of Lyme (fever, body aches, nerve pain)
No bulls-eye rash

A bacterial infection of the bladder or urethra.
Pharmacists can only assess and prescribe for non-pregnant females.
Symptoms may include:
Pain, discomfort and/or burning feeling when urinating
Frequent urination
Pain in the abdomen
Cloudy, strong or foul-smelling urine
If untreated, a UTI can lead to a more complicated kidney or blood inflection.

Small, rough skin growths caused by a viral infection (HPV), usually appearing on the hands, fingers, or feet.

Infection affecting vaginal area caused by overgrowth of yeast (a type of fungus that naturally lives in vagina).
Symptoms may include:
Itching/burning in and around vagina/vulva
Thick white cottage cheese-like discharge
Pain during sexual intercourse
If you are female >12 yrs old (and not pregnant), your pharmacist may be able to prescribe an antifungal to treat infection.
